There is a Precedent for What Happens to the Undefeated in the NFL

Filed under: Uncategorized, About every sport — admin at 1:08 pm on Wednesday, January 30, 2008

In 1934 the Chicago Bears went 13-0 in the regular season. They lost the NFL Championship to the New York Giants 30 to 13. One can bet that the Giants are looking to repeat history in 2007.

In the history of the NFL there have been 4 undefeated regular seasons. 2 of 3 undefeated teams went on to the championship game to lose (Chicago 13-0 in 1934 lost, Chicago 11-0 in 1942 lost). One team won the championship game - the 1972 Miami Dolphins (14-0) went on to win two post season games and Super Bowl VII 14-7 over the Washington Redskins.

So what will happen on Sunday when the 18-0 New England Patriots go up against the New York Giants?
